‘Slumber’ (Beauty Never Dies Chronicles #1) by J.L. Weil

3.5 stars

After sleeping for a hundred years, Charlotte Winston is awoken by a Prince.

Well, not an actual prince, but a very handsome Dash Darhk.  An unknown biologically-altering mist struck the Earth over a hundred years ago, and all humans fell into a deep sleep.  Some have been awake for a year, some for longer.

Dash leads Charlotte towards other settlers and survivors, explaining various changes to the environment and ecosystems.  A witty and resourceful hunter, Dash agrees to help Charlotte find her parents and sister, as he is searching for his family as well.

‘Slumber’ is post-apocalyptic YA fun.  The book is narrated entirely by Charlotte, with dialog ranging between exploration of an altered Earth, attempts at understanding the magic-like abilities she now possesses, and fighting the attraction she and Dash so clearly feel towards each other.

‘Slumber’ will be available on January 10, 2017.

I’ve voluntarily reviewed this book.
